Paper banknote denominated Ten Dollars, issued by the Confederate States of America, printed on tan/buff paper now heavily toned and aged brown. The face bears the text 'THE CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA TEN DOLLARS' in large ornate lettering, a central engraved vignette depicting a field scene with figures and horses, two oval cartouches with small text referencing Confederate and United States language, a portrait medallion at lower left, a '10' numeral medallion at lower right, manuscript signatures, and printed text reading 'Ptd by Evans & Cogswell' and 'C. SERIES' legible near the top. The reverse is printed in blue-grey ink on the same buff paper with 'TEN' in large letters at centre and '10' numerals in circular cartouches at each corner within an overall geometric lathe-work border pattern. The note shows significant wear including heavy fold lines, creasing throughout, fraying and small losses along the left edge, and general toning consistent with age.
