Swept-hilt rapier with green and cream guard

Price on request

A swept-hilt rapier with a long, slender double-edged blade etched along the forte with silver foliate scrollwork, figural motifs, and star decorations on a blackened ground. The cup guard is constructed with a pierced, wheel-form iron central plate engraved with a continuous cursive inscription and featuring a partially legible monogram or cypher; the cup panels are inlaid or covered in sections of cream/off-white and green material (appearing to be painted or lacquered panels) edged with black, and the quillons terminate in curled, scrolled tips. The grip is not clearly visible in the photographs. Surface wear is evident on the guard metalwork, with loss to the cream and black finish in several areas; the blade shows some surface oxidation and light pitting toward the forte.

Condition
Used/worn — notable finish loss on guard panels, surface oxidation and pitting on blade forte; overall structure appears intact
