Large cotton American national flag bearing 44 white stars arranged in staggered rows on a dark navy blue canton. The flag has 13 alternating red and white (now heavily aged to khaki/cream) stripes; the white stripes show pronounced toning and soiling throughout. Construction is sewn panel sections with the stripes stitched together individually. The hoist edge is finished with a heavy natural canvas or cotton header, and a twisted natural-fibre rope is attached at the upper hoist corner; a reinforced grommet pocket is visible at the lower hoist corner of the canton. General surface soiling, fading, and some staining are present across the fly end and stripe sections.
